Trump reedita Neville Chamberlain; Europa vai se armar

 

O presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, optou pela Rússia. Em encontro constrangedor com o líder ucraniano Wolodymyr Zelensky, ofereceu uma oferta de paz, semelhante a Neville Chamberlain, diante de Hitler. Em 30 de setembro de 1938, o então primeiro-ministro inglês cedeu parte do território da então Tchecoslováquia à Alemanha nazista. Chamberlain queria apaziguar a sanha agressiva alemã, impedir que Hitler iniciasse uma guerra de ampla escala na Europa. 

Trump fez a mesma coisa. Ofereceu a Zelensky uma oferta de paz embaraçosa: a Ucrânia permite que seu território invadido permaneça ocupado pelas forças russas e fica sem qualquer garantia que os russos não invadirão Kiev amanhã.

Chamberlain seria duramente criticado pelos historiadores por ter "aberto as pernas" a Hitler. A estratégia melhor teria sido voltar correndo para casa; armar-se até os dentes e se preparar para o ataque iminente dos nazistas.

Na época, não se podia confiar nas palavras de Hitler e asseclas. Hoje, o bom senso manda pôr os dois pés atrás, quando se trata de russos. Em 1994, Bill Clinton fez um acordo de paz com os russos, que redundou na retirada de todas as armas nucleares da Ucrânia. Em troca, os russos se comprometeram a "respeitar a integralidade do território ucraniano". 

A Rússia não respeitou a "integralidade ucraniana". Ao contrário. Em 2014, a Rússia invadiu e anexou a Crimeia, que era território ucraniano. Em 24 de fevereiro de 2022, Vladimir Putin invadiu a Ucrânia para "desnazificar" o país, que é presidido por um judeu (um "judeu nazista", acredite). A guerra completou três anos e pode se alastrar por toda a Europa. Em 2023, Clinton fez um mea culpa e disse que foi um erro tirar as armas nucleares da Ucrânia.

O encontro entre Trump e Zelensky chamou a atenção da mídia mundial. Nunca se viu tanto despeito, tanta falta de educação, tanta grosseria diante de um presidente de um país soberano. Com as pernas abertas, arrogante, postura relaxada e abjeta, boca semiaberta em escárnio, Trump encurralou o presidente ucraniano, dizendo que ele não queria a paz, que ele estaria querendo provocar a terceira guerra mundial. 

A reação na Europa foi imediata. O presidente francês, Emmanuel Macron, publicou em sua rede social: "Há um agressor: Rússia. Há uma vítima: Ucrânia". No domingo, líderes europeus se reuniram em Londres para reforçar o apoio a Kiev. 

Hoje, Trump suspendeu a ajuda militar à Ucrânia. Hoje, também, a presidente da Comissão Europeia, Ursula von de Leyen, divulgou plano de cinco pontos e investimento de 800 bilhões de euro, para fazer frente à ameaça russa. 

Em 1939, a Alemanha nazista esqueceu o acordo com Chamberlain e invadiu a Polônia. Em 2025, a Rússia quer "terminar o serviço". Ocupar o restante do território ucraniano e não vai parar por aí. O projeto expansionista e imperialista de Putin deverá avançar sobre a Polônia, Alemanha, França etc.

Com o país devastado pela guerra, com milhões de refugiados procurando ajuda em países vizinhos, vendo diariamente seus amigos e familiares sendo mortos pelos mísseis e bombas russas, caminhando em meio a ruínas, o incansável Zelensky ainda teve que ouvir do jornalista Brian Glenn, correspondente do canal de extrema direita "Voz da America Real", uma pergunta provocadora:

"Por que você não usa um terno?"

Zelenski poderia ter dito: "Não uso terno, porque meu país está sendo devastado, seu idiota, imbecil". O líder ucraniano preferiu ser cortês e disse que usaria terno, quando terminasse a guerra.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has chosen Russia. In an awkward meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, he offered a peace proposal reminiscent of Neville Chamberlain's approach to Hitler. On September 30, 1938, the then British Prime Minister ceded part of Czechoslovakia's territory to Nazi Germany. Chamberlain sought to appease German aggression and prevent Hitler from initiating a large-scale war in Europe.

Trump did the same. He presented Zelensky with an embarrassing peace offer: Ukraine would allow its invaded territory to remain occupied by Russian forces, with no guarantee that Russia would not invade Kyiv tomorrow.

Chamberlain was harshly criticized by historians for "rolling over" for Hitler. A better strategy would have been to rush back home, arm themselves to the teeth, and prepare for the imminent Nazi attack.

At the time, Hitler's words and those of his henchmen could not be trusted. Today, common sense dictates caution when dealing with the Russians. In 1994, Bill Clinton made a peace agreement with the Russians, resulting in the withdrawal of all nuclear weapons from Ukraine. In return, the Russians pledged to "respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine."

Russia did not respect Ukraine's "territorial integrity." On the contrary. In 2014, Russia invaded and annexed Crimea, which was Ukrainian territory. On February 24, 2022, Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine to "denazify" the country, which is led by a Jewish president (a "Nazi Jew," believe it or not). The war has now entered its third year and could spread across Europe. In 2023, Clinton admitted his mistake, saying it was wrong to remove nuclear weapons from Ukraine.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky drew global media attention. Never before had there been such disdain, such rudeness, and such lack of respect toward the leader of a sovereign nation. With his legs spread, a relaxed and abject posture, and a half-open mouth in a mocking expression, Trump cornered the Ukrainian president, accusing him of not wanting peace and of provoking World War III.

The reaction in Europe was immediate. French President Emmanuel Macron posted on his social media: "There is an aggressor: Russia. There is a victim: Ukraine." On Sunday, European leaders gathered in London to reinforce their support for Kyiv.

Today, Trump suspended military aid to Ukraine. Also today, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, unveiled a five-point plan and an investment of 800 billion euros to counter the Russian threat.

In 1939, Nazi Germany disregarded its agreement with Chamberlain and invaded Poland. In 2025, Russia aims to "finish the job," occupying the remaining Ukrainian territory and not stopping there. Putin's expansionist and imperialist project is expected to advance into Poland, Germany, France, and beyond.

With the country devastated by war, millions of refugees seeking help in neighboring nations, and daily losses of friends and family to Russian missiles and bombs, the tireless Zelensky still had to endure a provocative question from journalist Brian Glenn, correspondent for the far-right channel "Real Voice of America":

"Why aren't you wearing a suit?"

Zelensky could have replied, "I'm not wearing a suit because my country is being devastated, you idiot, imbecile." Instead, the Ukrainian leader chose to be courteous, saying he would wear a suit when the war is over.
